Interview Manager: Design Interview Questionnaires for Applicant Evaluation
The Interview Questionnaire component of the Interview Manager gives AppliTrack organizations a valuable tool for generating and sharing sets of high quality look-fors and questions in occupational themes and specific (position) content areas. These questionnaires may be used in interview sessions in a variety of different ways as appropriate for the particular interview and organization. An interview questionnaire may be used in interview to:
Another significant benefit of tracking your interview questionnaires within AppliTrack is that the content can be shared, reviewed, and used by all hiring managers within your organization, thus relieving some of the challenge associated with developing quality questions and look-fors.
Overview:
Questionnaires are most often associated with an Interview Series - indicating the set of questions that are to be provided to a set of applicants in interview. Questionnaires may be either Global or non-Global in scope. A Global Questionniare is one that is consistent and can be associated with several different interview series; modifying the contents (instructions, look-fors, questions, etc.) of a Global Questionnaire has an impact on all existing and future uses.
A non-Global Questionnaire is associated with only one Interview Series and it is appropriate to customize the questions and instructions to be specific to the interview series' purpose.
It is possible to associate Any questionnaire may be customized to include the specific instructions, questions, and response-types desired, generally a questionnaire consists of collections of looks-fors and questions, each grouped into a general category. Interview Questionnaires are a special type of AppliTrack eForm and, as such, can be managed using many of the same techniques associated with general eForms - refer to the eForms Overview and Edit Forms for more information on this topic. There is also a special utility in the Interview Manager, the Questionnaire Builder, that helps deign questionniares.
Creating Questionnaires:
Questionnaires can be created in two different contexts: from Edit Forms screen in the Setup area, or the Interview Series edit screen.
When an Interview Questionnaire is created using the Edit Forms screen it will, by default, be a Global Questionnaire not associated with any particular Interview Series.
Creating a questionnaire from the Interview Series screen will generate a non-Global Questionnaire that is associated the questionnaire with the Series being edited.
When adding a new questionnaire from the Questionnaires tab of the Interview Series a choice is given to either, associate an existing Global questionnaire with the Series, or "Create a New Interview Questionnaire for this series". If the "Use a global questionnaire" option is selected, no new questionnaire is created - the existing, global, questionnaire is simply associated with the Series. Selecting "Create a new Interview Questionnaire for this series" initiates the Questionnaire Builder.
With the initiation of the Questionnaire Builder, a choice is provided to begin with a blank form or use an existing questionnaire as a template. After creating the questionnaire as desired, click the "Complete and Return to Interview Series"
The Questionnaire Builder is a utility that is used specifically to generate Interview Questionnaires. The Builder is seamlessly integrated with the Questionnaire Library to make browsing and adding content to the questionnaire as simple as possible. Generally speaking, the process of developing a questionnaire with the Builder involves (1) choosing the category, then (2 & 3) using the "Add" buttons to include the that best fit for the interview's purpose.
The below image is interactive, drag your mose over the different components of the Builder to identify their function.
Below is a preview of an example questionnaire. Use the web browser's "Print..." function to create a paper version of this questionnaire to be brought to the interview session for note-taking. At the completion of each interview session, it is recommended that the questionnaire is filled-out online by the interviewer.
