About the role Leyden D212 is seeking a talented Social Studies teacher—with experience teaching U.S. History and Civics—who believes in collaborative, student-centered learning and culturally responsive practice. Spanish proficiency is preferred (not required).
Minimum Qualifications
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate Social Science endorsement(s).
Strong content knowledge and effective communication skills.
What you’ll do
Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons; integrate technology and varied instructional strategies.
Design and use assessments to inform instruction; maintain accurate records/grades.
Create a positive, safe, and productive classroom; uphold school and district policies.
Contribute to the broader school community and support student activities.
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate knowledge of best practices in supporting all students’ learning, with particular attention to newcomer and short-term English Language (EL) learners.
Develop and implement instruction that promotes academic growth and language development.
Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment.
Qualifications:
Ukrainian language proficiency.
Experience with or understanding of newcomer and short-term EL students.
Strong communication, collaboration, and instructional skills.
Leyden High School District 212 is seeking dedicated and flexible guest (substitute) teachers to join our team. As a guest teacher, you will support student learning by maintaining a productive and respectful classroom environment in the absence of the primary teacher.
Responsibilities include:
Delivering lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher
Managing classroom behavior and ensuring student safety
Communicating with school staff as needed
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Substitute Teaching License required
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Passion for working with high school students
