Title:
Business Manager-Rochester Community School Corporation
Overview:
Serves as the school corporation treasurer and administrators all business affairs for the school corporation to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available. The business manager is responsible for the supervision of the budgetary, business, human resources, transportation, maintenance, custodial and building/grounds care and food service operations of the school system.
Duties:
Monitor and maintain all systems associated with corporation financial accounts.
Update and maintain alll Gateway reporting requirements
Work collaboratively with Superintendent to develop, implement, and adhere to the board approved budget.
Recommend/Present to the Board approvals for claims/fund reports/payroll.
Status:
Full time, year-round
Qualifications:
Required to have:
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Self-directed, goal-oriented, and collaborative
Experience in finance, accounting
Possess a high level of technology skills
Preferred:
Experience in educaiton and/or governmental agencies
Associates Degree or higher
IASBO school business certification (must complete once hired if not currently certified)
Experience as a school business manager, corporation treasurer or deputy treasurer
Performance Responsibilities:
Budgetary-Responsible for all aspects of annual school corporation budget preparation and approval
Data entry of receipts and expenditures and prepares forms required for advertising and hearings on the budget
Attends budget hearing with appropriate documentation
Creates the appropriate accounts to be established within approved budgets and manages authorized appropriations
Prepares all additional appropriations, attends hearings and follows standard practices in administration of the annual budget
Monitors and controls budget expenditures as needed and keeps the Superintendent/Board informed about all budgetary matters
Performs cash flow projections for the purpose of making investments, requesting advance draws and/or borrowing money
Prepares reports for Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) appeals and budget hearings
Prepares and endorses required local, state and federal reports
Reviews and approves all corporation purchase orders
Writes specifications as needed and requests for items that qualify under statute of when bidding is otherwise desirable
Seeks quotes on quantity purchase items as needed
Maintains inventory of all school property
Manages the insurance needs of the school corporation
Works with brokers, corporation cost containment committee, and third-party administrators to secure adequate and cost-effective health and welfare benefits for corporation employees (health, life, vision, dental, long-term disability)
Oversees the accounting of the self-insured health insurance account through third-party administrator
Secures and oversees property and casualty insurance needs for the school corporation
Assumes responsibility for accounting practices that record in detail, all money and credit transactions
Supervises the collection, safekeeping and distribution of all funds
Arranges for internal auditing of school curricular and extra-curricular accounts
Attends all board meetings and submits monthly reports to the board outlining the status of each appropriation item
Acts as advisor to the Superintendent/Board on the school budget and all other business/financial questions
Completes applications for local, state and federal funding sources and supervises the administration of these grants
Keeps abreast of all state and national legislation as it pertains to the finances of public school corporation
Completes other duties as assigned by the Superintendent

We will reimburse for CDL physical and State Bus Skills Test (1 time). We provide job training, a sign on bonus and insurance.
